After the signings Wednesday of wide receivers Trishton Jackson and Quez Watkins to reserve/future contracts, the Arizona Cardinals have added 16 new players to the 2025 roster since the season ended Jan. 5. Nine of those ended the 2024 season on the practice squad.
The contracts of seven practice squad players expired this past Monday and two of those have joined other teams. Quarterback Anthony Brown Jr. was signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad this week to mimic Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson on the scout team in preparation for Sunday’s playoff game. Tackle Luke Tenuta signed a reserve/future contract with the Indianapolis Colts.
The others who are currently free agents are linebackers Markus Bailey and Keshawn Banks; defensive lineman Angelo Blackson, who was placed on the practice squad injured list Oct. 2, and running backs Hassan Hall and Tony Jones Jr.
With 60 players currently under contract, that puts the Cardinals about two-thirds of the way to the 91-man offseason roster limit. During the offseason, only the top 51 players count against the salary cap, which has not yet been set.
All the newcomers, except linebacker Elliott Brown, signed one-year minimum contracts. Brown, who played the last two seasons with the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League, signed a 3-year deal with all minimum salaries.
The minimum salaries for 2025 are $840,000 for no credited seasons, $960,000 for one, $1.03 million for two, $1.1 million for three, $1.17 million for 4-6 and $1.255 million for 7-plus.
