It would be an understatement to say this year has not gone as planned for Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Pegged as a title contender entering the season, the Lakers have been plagued by injuries and lackluster play from their first game. After today’s loss–their sixth in a row–Los Angeles is now 31-47 on the year and 1.5 games out of the 11th and final postseason spot.
Davis put up 28 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in this afternoon’s 129-118 loss to the Nuggets, which LeBron James missed due to an ailing ankle. After the game, Davis expressed his exasperation with how this season has unfolded.
Davis told ESPN’s Malika Andrews that the “most frustrating part” of the season has been the Lakers being unable to grasp their true potential due to so many players missing time due to injuries.
Anthony Davis, in part: “That’s the most frustrating part of this season… not being sure of what we could’ve been.”

While poor overall roster construction can’t be ignored as one of the reasons the Lakers have faltered, injuries have taken their toll.
It’s been a “Murphy’s Law” type of season in general for LA. Mercifully, it’s almost over.
