One-two punch
What’s better than one running back making the 2021 Doak Walker Award Watch List? Two running backs being named to the watch list.
Arizona State’s one-two punch of DeaMonte Trayanum and Rachaad White are candidates for the 2021 Doak Walker Award, as released by the PwC Athletic Forum on Wednesday.
The Sun Devils led the Pac-12 in rushing yards per game (264.2) last year behind the efforts of Trayanum and White.
Trayanum, the highly touted freshman bruiser from Ohio, was expected to have a major role in the backfield last season. He lived up to the hype as he was the highest-graded running back (87.6) from the Pac-12 by Pro Football Focus.
White surprised some people after his stellar debut against USC. The former JuCo transfer averaged 10 yards per carry that included a plethora of explosive runs.
RACHAAD WHITE.
93 YARDS.

The second season of Zak Hill’s offense should mean more fluidity all around, providing even better opportunities for the dynamic backfield.
The four-game season gave Sun Devil fans only a glimpse of Trayanum and White. The backfield should be one of the most exciting parts of the 2021 season.
