Arizona State running back and return specialist has a new home
Sun Devil sophomore running back and special teams player Javen Jacobs entered the transfer portal in December and will play football at the University of New Mexico, according to his social media post.

Jacobs appeared in 11 games as a freshman in 2022, mostly in the special teams unit as a returner. Jacobs ran back four kickoffs for a total of 105 yards with a career long of 47 yards which came against Utah in September of 2022.
In his sophomore year, ASU transitioned him into a running back while still implementing the 5-foot-10, 195-pound back in rotation. In 2023, he appeared in four games and got four carries for eight yards total. He also returned two kickoffs and two punts in the 2023 season.
Originally from Chandler, Arizona, Jacobs attended Saguaro High School where he was a three-star prospect according to 247sports. He ran for 2,391 all-purpose yards in his high school career and collected 5A first-team awards as a receiver and punt returner in his senior year. He was also awarded the 5A player of the year in his senior year. He early enrolled at Arizona State in the spring before his freshman season in 2022.
