The Oklahoma Sooners continue to load up on elite quarterbacks.
Few college football programs, if any, have had as many elite quarterbacks over the past 5-plus years than the Sooners.
Oklahoma has gone from Baker Mayfield to Kyler Murray to Jalen Hurts to Spencer Rattler. And there are more elite quarterbacks coming.
The Sooners have Caleb Williams, the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the 2021 class, coming in this year. And, following Sunday’s recruiting news, another one in the pipeline in 2023.
Malachi Nelson, the No. 2 quarterback recruit in the 2023 class, announced on Sunday night his commitment to Oklahoma.

Lincoln Riley’s program continues to load up on elite quarterbacks.
It’s pretty crazy to look at the list of elite quarterbacks to play for the Sooners over the past five-plus years.

It’s not just quarterbacks the Sooners are reeling in, either.
“Oklahoma has had 19 ESPN 300 quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs in the 2019-2023 classes. The 2022 and 2023 classes aren’t finished, so that number will likely go up, but that also includes 10 that were ranked in the top five of their position,” ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren tweeted.

Oklahoma has been among the country’s elite for a while now. However, the Sooners have yet to truly break through in the College Football Playoff with a win.
Perhaps that is about to change.
