Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin reacted to today’s news about Alabama quarterback Bryce Young in a way that only he could.
This morning, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban shared at the Texas HS Coaches Association convention that Young, a former five-star recruit who is expected to take over as Alabama’s starting QB, is already making serious money off his NIL.
“Our QB has already approached ungodly numbers, and he hasn’t even played yet,” Saban said. “If I told you what it is … it’s almost seven-figures.”
Kiffin, never one to miss the opportunity to inject some levity, had the following to say about Young’s newfound earning power during SEC Media Days on Tuesday.
“I’m still blown away about Bryce Young,” Kiffin said, via Stadium’s Brett McMurphy. “A million dollars? He doesn’t need to play against us.”

It would be great for Kiffin and his team if Young sat out against them, but that’s not going to happen. Barring injury, he’ll be on the field when the Rebels travel to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Oct. 2.
Considering how much money Young has reeled in with only 22 career passing attempts to his name, imagine what he might do if he has as productive a 2021 season as many project.
