The NFL world received terribly sad news Thursday afternoon. Greg Knapp, the passing game specialist for the New York Jets, has passed away. He was 58 years old.
Knapp’s agent, Jeff Sperbeck, announced the tragic news on Thursday. Knapp died Thursday morning at 11:32 a.m. PT as a result of injuries he suffered in an accident last Saturday.
“Today at 11:32 am PST, Greg Knapp (aka Knapper) was called back home to Heaven,” Sperbeck said in a statement, via Broncos reporter Mike Klis.
This is a devastating turn of events for the Knapp family and the Jets’ organization. We send our condolences and thoughts to all those impacted by Knapp’s death at this time.

Greg Knapp was in “critical condition” after being involved in an accident while riding his bicycle in California last Saturday. A car struck Knapp while he was riding his bicycle. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
Knapp sucumbed to the injuries Thursday morning. He was 58 years old. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, and his three daughters. Our thoughts go out to the Knapp family.
Knapp was highly respected in the NFL world. He spent time with the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers.
“RIP Greg Knapp. He’s impacted a ton of folks and will be missed,” wrote Steve Wyche of NFL Network, via Twitter. “This was an awful tragedy and the deepest of prayers to his family.”
Knapp leaves behind a tremendous football legacy which clearly impacted many. He will be sorely missed.
