The energetic outfielder
Arizona State’s lineup will look for new leaders after the graduations of Kindra and Maddi Hackbarth. Jazmine Hill seems to be the prime candidate to fill one of those spots.
The flamboyant outfielder finished second on the team in batting average and hits. She added 10 home runs, eight stolen bases and a team-high 14 doubles.
Hill generally batted in the two-hole for Trisha Ford and Jeff Harger. It’ll be interesting where she finds herself for 2022. She can stay there or even drop down to the three spot. Can she move up to the leadoff role? Hill has the speed, but her strikeout numbers will need to come down after leading the team in Ks last season.
The other big question is if she’ll play in right field? Hill is athletic enough to play center field as the position is open and she can do it. Makenna Harper is probably locked into left field leaving an opening to be filled by either Yanni Acuña, who might also be the staring designated player, Emily Cazares or Ole Miss transfer Jessica Puk. Nevertheless, Hill can play center or right field and that might be determined who is hitting the best from the rest of the group.
The Sun Devils will need Hill to continue her trajectory as a cornerstone player to continue the offensive success they’ve had the past few years and she has all the talent to do so.
