Tempe and Mesa appear to be heavily featured in Unstoppable, a feature film coming out on Amazon Prime that follows the career path of former Arizona State Sun Devils wrestler Anthony Robles.
Robles, who was born with one leg, attended Mesa High School and then ASU, where he became a 2011 NCAA Champion at the 125-pound weight and a three-time NCAA All-American.
A trailer of Unstoppable, which will be available on stream on Jan. 16, sets the scene when Robles is a lightly recruited high schooler with one college offer and a dream to stay close to home with the Sun Devils.
In the trailer’s two-plus minutes, Robles wears a Mesa Jackrabbits hoodie and varsity jacket before the ASU logos and scenes get heavier. There are shots of the Tempe campus as well as in Desert Financial Arena.
If you are a true cinephile, the cast for Unstoppable is pretty dang loaded.
Jharrel Jerome, who was in the 2016 Golden Globe best motion picture-drama Moonlight, plays Robles.
His supporting cast pops, with Jennifer Lopez as Robles’ mom, Judy. Don Cheadle plays his college coach, Shawn Charles, while Michael Peña plays Robles’ high school coach, Bobby Williams. Bobby Cannavale appears as Robles’ dad.
Unstoppable is produced by Matt Damon’s and Ben Affleck’s Artists Equity and Amazon MGM studios.
