The Grand Canyon Antelopes are heading to the WAC Tournament semifinals.
GCU basketball beat Sam Houston State 71-66 in the quarterfinals of the WAC tourney on Thursday night in Las Vegas.
‘Lopes guard Holland Woods led the way with a game-high 24 points. Jovan Blacksher scored 13 and Chance McMillian had 12.
GCU forward Gabe McGlothan led the team in rebounds with six. Blacksher led the ‘Lopes in assists (four) and minutes (37).
Sam Houston guard Savion Flagg led his team with 20 points in a game-high 38 minutes played. Guard Demarkus Lampley followed with 17 points in 34 minutes. Forward Tristan Ikpe added 10 points and finished tied with Flagg for the team-lead in rebounds at five.
GCU will now tip off against the New Mexico State Aggies in the semifinals of the WAC Tournament on Friday at 7 p.m.
The winner gets a chance to punch its ticket to the NCAA Tournament if it can win the conference championship game on Saturday.
