Arizona went 15 years without having one of its offensive linemen get drafted, now it’s had a big man picked two years in a row.
Jonah Savaiinaea was taken by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Friday, going 37th overall. He joins former teammate Jordan Morgan, a 1st-round pick of the Green Bay Packers a year ago, to give the Wildcats linemen picked in consecutive drafts for the first time since 1999-2000.
Miami traded up with with Las Vegas Raiders to get Savaiianaea, an indication that the Dolphins really wanted him.

The 6-foot-5, 336-pound Savaiinaea started all 36 games he played for Arizona from 2022-24, beginning his career at right guard (where he earned Freshman All-American honors) before moving to right tackle as a sophomore and then playing both tackle spots as a junior. In 2,418 offensive snaps he allowed only eight sacks.
Savaiinaea, a 3-star prospect from Hawaii, was part of the Wildcats’ signature 2022 recruiting class under Jedd Fisch. His younger brother Julian is a redshirt sophomore defensive lineman with the UA.
Along with wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who went 8th overall to the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, Arizona has had multiple players picked in consecutive years for the first time since doing so every draft from 2007-12. It also marks the first time the UA has had two homegrown (recruited out of high school) players drafted in the same year since Will Parks and Scooby Wright in 2016.
