Mason White came through in big spots for Arizona twice over the weekend in Provo, and the Big 12 noticed.
The junior shortstop has been named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week, the first conference honor for the Wildcats since joining the league. He shared the honor with BYU’s Ryder Robinson.

White was 9 for 19 in four games last season, driving in six runs while scoring four times. At BYU he went 6 for 14 with two home runs, both of which proved to be game-winning hits, along with three doubles and five RBI.
His 3-run homer in the 5th on Friday put Arizona ahead 5-4, and on Saturday he led off the 7th with a solo shot to put the Wildcats up for good in that 7-5 victory.
White is hitting .325 this season with nine homers and 44 RBI. For his career he’s homered 38 times, fourth-most in school history and one behind former teammate Chase Davis.
This is Arizona’s first conference player of the week award since 2023, when Davis won it. Last season the Wildcats had two Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors.
Wildcats rise in polls
A 3-1 week, including a fourth consecutive conference road series win, has bumped Arizona up to No. 16 in the latest D1Baseball.com rankings. It is the Wildcats’ highest ranking of the season and highest since being No. 15 at the end of the 2024 regular season.
Arizona (28-11, 12-6 Big 12) also moved up in the other polls, sitting at 18th in the USA Today Coaches Poll, 20th in the NCBWA poll and 21st in the Baseball America poll.
The UA should again be in D1Baseball’s projections to host a regional, which come out Wednesday, as it was in as the No. 15 overall seed last week.
