He had committed to Nebraska
This offseason has seen Arizona pick up more than 25 players from the NCAA transfer portal, though just as important if not more so has been getting some of their own portal entries to reverse course. That happened again on Saturday, this time to a Wildcat who had previously committed to another school.
Cornerback Marquis Groves-Killebrew has withdrawn his name from the portal and will return to the UA for the 2025 season, his second with the program. He had committed to Nebraska on Jan. 9 but never signed with the Cornhuskers.
Groves-Killebrew is the fourth player from Arizona’s 2024 roster to come back to the Wildcats after going into the portal, joining fellow defensive backs Dalton Johnson, Genesis Smith and Treydan Stukes. That quartet combined to start 31 games last season.
As a redshirt sophomore Groves-Killebrew, who previously spent time at Louisville and Texas A&M, made six start for Arizona. He started the first three games and final three contests, finishing with 26 tackles with a sack and four pass breakups.
His return gives Arizona 10 scholarship cornerbacks for 2025, seven who will be new to the program. The Wildcats signed three prep corners and one from the junior college ranks and signed transfers Jay’Vion Cole (Texas), Michael Dansby (San Jose State) and Ayden Garnes (West Virginia).
