Arizona football adds home-and-home series with Washington State

An old Pac-12 friend is back on the schedule

When Arizona officially joined the Big 12 Conference last summer it created an awkward scenario where the upcoming nonconference schedule would include one of its new league foes. It was too late to swap out a home-and-home series with Kansas State, so those games remained on the slate and those other Wildcats will be coming to Tucson this fall.

A home-and-home with another Big 12 opponent, BYU, was on the docket for 2026-27, but not anymore. Instead, Arizona will play one of its old Pac-12 rivals.

The UA has announced a home-and-home with Washington State, with the Wildcats visiting Pullman on Sept. 26, 2026 and hosting the Cougars on Sept. 25, 2027. Those games will replace the ones against BYU, though on different dates.

Arizona is 28-19 all-time against WSU, which played as an independent last season and will again in 2025 before the Pac-12 returns with a roster of schools mostly coming over from the Mountain West. The Wildcats won the last meeting between the schools in 2023, a 44-6 win that started a 9-game win streak which would tie the school record and when it ended last September was the longest active win streak in the country.

The addition of WSU eliminates two of the few nonconference openings Arizona had to fill. The Wildcats have games scheduled through 2033, with one open spot in 2032 and possibly in 2029, when they’re allowed to add a 13^th game because they are set to open that season at Hawaii in Week Zero.
