The Transfer Portal is wide open and the Arizona Wildcats have been very active hosting transfers and adding players out of the Portal, with four committing to the ‘Cats.
However, that doesn’t mean that the Portal is the only game on the recruiting trail. You can never forget the high school ranks, and on Monday evening, Arizona received some good news from that pool.
Sawyer Anderson, a 3-star QB from Texas, announced his decision to commit to Arizona.

Anderson, who plays at Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, is an impressive player. He isn’t the biggest, measuring in at 5-foot-11 and about 180 pounds, but he plays much, much bigger. He is very mobile and does have good vision downfield. He has a cannon for an arm and can make throws at all levels of the field. He is quite accurate, even while throwing on the run. As mentioned he does have a cannon for an arm and it is intriguing how much power he can muster while throwing across his body.
Overall throughout his recruitment, Anderson has reporting 30 offers. He chose the Wildcats after committing to Purdue in mid-August. He did sign with the Boilermakers but was released from his NLI after Ryan Walters was fired and Barry Odom came in. Some of his other offers include Arizona State, Colorado, Miami, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin, to name a few.
He has had himself quite the career in Dallas. As a senior, Anderson was 255-for-393 for 5,134 yards, 49 TDs and 9 picks. He also ran 432 yards on 69 carries and had 6 TDs. Overall in his career, Anderson was 859-for-1,320 for 14,674 yards, 158 scores and 25 INTs. On the ground he had 965 yards on 154 carries and 13 TDs.
Anderson is a 3-star in both 247’s internal and Composite rankings. In the Composite, he rates as the No. 1,108 player nationally, the No. 64 quarterback and the 172nd best player in Texas. Internally, 247 has him as the 84th best QB and the No. 235 player in Texas. If he was taller, he’d easily be a 4-star.
Anderson joins Luke Haugo as the QB additions in the 2025 class.
