It took a long time for Arizona to get back into the Associated Press Top 25 after its early season struggles, and while things haven’t gone so great of late the voters still think the Wildcats are worthy of being ranked.
The UA has come in at No. 24 in the latest AP poll, down two spots from the previous week. The dip comes after losing at Iowa State, which is No. 10 this week.
It’s the fifth consecutive week the Wildcats have been ranked and ninth time this season, but since climbing to No. 13 on Feb. 10 they have dropped each subsequent ranking. That drop has coincided with losing four of the last six games, three of those to currently ranked opponents.
Arizona is one of five ranked Big 12 teams, with regular season champ Houston at No. 3, Texas Tech at No. 9, Iowa State at No. 10 and BYU at No. 23. Other ranked teams Arizona has faced include No. 2 Duke and No. 12 Wisconsin.
The UA hosts ASU on Tuesday night when it will honor seniors, then it wraps up the regular season Saturday at Kansas.
