It wasn’t the type of night the Arizona Wildcats expected to have after beating Utah last week, losing 28-22 at home to Texas Tech.
The offense was awful for most of the game. Noah Fifita was off his game. He was off target and didn’t seem to read the field well. The nail in the coffin was the surprising fumble by star receiver Tetairoa McMillan after he made a great catch and started flying down the field to put Arizona in a position to win.
There were some players who stood out in the disappointing loss. Let’s check out the players of the game.
Offense: Quali Conley, RB
- Game Stats: 14 car, 97 yds, 1 TD; 7 rec, 39 yds
- Notes: It took a little bit, but Conley finally started to get going after halftime and really made his presence known. He ran with speed, balance and power, even trucking defenders down the field.
Defense: Chase Kennedy, DL
- Game Stats: 4 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 FR
- Notes: There were other players that had a better stat line, but Kennedy was a force against the Red Raiders. He was consistently in the backfield creating problems. He came up with a key fumble recovery as well to stop Texas Tech late in the fourth quarter. Really impressed with his play as the season progresses.
Special Teams: Tyler Loop, K
- Game Stats: 5-for-6, Long of 52-yards
- Notes: Loop was automatic per the usual. He hit field goals ranging from 30-yards all the way to 52. He is seriously going to be an NFL kicker for a long time. He hooked a 48-yarder late in the fourth quarter.
Honorable Mentions
- Keyan Burnett, TE: 5 rec, 46 yds
- Tetairoa McMillan, WR: 8 rec, 161 yds
- Dalton Johnson, DB: 8 tackles, 1 FF
- Tre Smith, DL: 7 tackles, 1 TFL, 0.5 sacks
