Former Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball guard Kim Aiken Jr. has accepted a plea deal for his role in a sexual assault case while for playing New Mexico State.
Aiken Jr. agreed to a plea deal on Tuesday to two felony counts of false imprisonment and one count of conspiracy to commit false imprisonment, according to an Associated Press story.
If the deal is finalized, Aiken Jr. would serve 4 1⁄2 years of probation and likely avoid prison time after originally being charged with 11 crimes that carried up to 24 years in prison.
The former UA player is accused of participated in the hazing of an NMSU teammate. Aiken Jr. and two other players on the 2022-23 NMSU team allegedly pulled down the pants of the victims and sometimes grab their genitals, the AP story said.
The hazing scandal led NMSU to cancel the remainder of its season.
Aiken Jr. never played in a game for the Aggies after transferring to NMSU from Arizona.
Aiken Jr. played seven games for the Wildcats in 2021-22, coach Tommy Lloyd’s first season. He left the team in early December 2021 for unknown reasons.
The Redlands, Calif. native joined Arizona as a grad transfer from Eastern Washington. He committed to Arizona in April 2021, one day before coach Sean Miller was fired. Lloyd kept the former All-Big Sky selection on the roster.
