It was reported earlier this Saturday that Xavier was considering a reunion with Sean Miller. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, that reunion will actually come to fruition.
“Sources tell me and Jeff Borzello that Xavier is expected to hire former Arizona coach Sean Miller as the school’s next head coach,” Thamel tweeted on Saturday afternoon.
This will mark Miller’s second stint with the Musketeers. He led the program from 2004 to 2009, owning a 120-47 record during that span.
Clearly, the Musketeers really wanted Miller back as their head coach. Just a few days ago, they parted ways with Travis Steele.

Steele was just 70-50 in four seasons at Xavier. That’s just not good enough for the program.
Even though Miller will return to Xavier with a lot of baggage, the athletic department must feel good about what he brings to the table strictly as a basketball coach.
Miller, a former Pac-12 Coach of the Year, had a 302-109 record at Arizona. His tenure was highlighted by an NCAA investigation that stemmed from the FBI’s probe into a recruiting scandal.
Time will tell if Xavier made the right decision bringing back Miller for a second stint.
