The start of Aaron Gordon’s 11th NBA season has been like most of his previous ones, with strong production across the board. But now an injury will send him to the sidelines for several weeks.
ESPN’s Shams Charania is reporting that Gordon, a former UA star, will miss “multiple weeks” with a strain to his right calf.
The 29-year-old Gordon was averaging 15.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in seven games (all starts) for the Denver Nuggets, with whom he’s played since midway through the 2020-21 season. He had similar numbers during the 2023 postseason in helping the Nuggets win the NBA title.
Gordon recently agreed to an extension with Denver through the 2028-29 season that would pay him $133 million over four years. He’s currently in the final year of a 4-year, $92 million deal signed in 2021.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, Gordon played one season at the UA and helped the Wildcats reach the Elite Eight. He averaged 12.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists for Arizona in 2013-14.
