To help fill some holes on a mostly complete team after he was hired at Arizona, Brent Brennan looked to his old team for reinforcements. Now, as Brennan and his staff attempt to rebuild the Wildcats’ depleted roster, he’s once again looked to a former player.
Ex-San Jose State cornerback Michael Dansby has signed with the UA, the Wildcats’ third pickup from the NCAA transfer portal. He’s also the sixth former Spartans player to follow Brennan to Tucson, with three others set to return for another year with Arizona.

The 6-foot, 179-pound Dansby spent the past three seasons at San Jose where he started 21 games including 11 in 2024. This past season he had 37 tackles, two interceptions and seven pass breakups, and for his career has five picks with 70 tackles.
Dansby should compete for a starting cornerback job, as Arizona has seen Tacario Davis and Emmanuel Karnley and nickel back Treydan Stukes enter the portal. His overall grade of 64.9, per Pro Football Focus, was better than that of Davis (61.4), Karnley (53.5) and returning corner Marquis Groves-Killebrew (55.1), and his 66.5 tackling grade trailed only Davis among UA corners with at least 100 snaps.
Arizona’s other transfer pickups so far are ex-New Mexico wide receiver Luke Wysong and former Northwestern State defensive lineman Chancellor Owens.
