
Noelani Cornfield was one of the most productive players on the Buffalo women’s basketball roster last season under new Arizona head coach Becky Burke. She’s also a beneficiary of the NCAA waiver that allows former junior college players who were going to lose eligibility after this season to continue playing next year. She will be doing it at Arizona.
Cornfield will be in her sixth year of college basketball. She spent two years at Northwest Florida State College, one of the top junior college teams in the country. It is the college that produced former Arizona standout Trinity Baptiste before she went on to play Division I basketball. Baptiste helped Arizona to the national title game in 2021.
Cornfield also spent two years at Southern Mississippi before transferring to Buffalo last year. Arizona will be her fourth stop.
The guard was good for 10.9 points and 4.1 rebounds in 31.1 minutes per game last season. She shot 45.3 percent overall from the field and 28.9 percent from 3. Her scoring average was third on the team. More importantly, she had 5.9 assists against 3.4 turnovers per game in her fifth season.
Most of the Bulls’ most productive players were seniors and fifth-year players last year. The eligibility of the others is unclear, but one of the three players who averaged double figures was sophomore Kirsten Lewis-Williams. She entered the portal on Monday, Apr. 7 but has not announced a new landing spot yet.
