Top transfer Trey Townsend has committed to Arizona, he announced Wednesday.
The former Oakland big man averaged 17.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists on 45.5% shooting last season. He dropped 17 points and 12 rebounds in the Grizzlies’ upset win over No. 3 Kentucky in March. He also posted 30 points and 13 rebounds in their loss to N.C. State in the Round of 32.
He is Arizona’s first transfer commit of 2024. The Wildcats recently lost rim-running center Oumar Ballo to the portal, and now get a strong inside offensive presence with Townsend.
Arizona will also bring in the nation’s No. 4 overall freshman class, headlined by top-40 prospects Carter Bryant, Joson Sanon, Jamari Phillips and four-star Emmanuel Stephen.
