Chip Kelly’s sudden departure has left UCLA scrambling for a replacement. One option being rumored is Arizona coach Brent Brennan.
Arizona hired Brennan in January to replace Jedd Fisch, who left the program to coach at Washington. He previously coached at San Jose State.
Michael Lev, a senior writer for the Arizona Daily Star, spoke to a source close to Brennan about the UCLA rumors. Let’s just say Arizona fans can sleep peacefully tonight.
“Brent Brennan has not and will not interview for UCLA,” a source told Lev. “He is completely locked in on coaching the Arizona Wildcats.”
It’s possible this is a smokescreen from Brennan’s camp, but it truly sounds like he’s committed to the Wildcats.
From a source close to Brent Brennan:

If Brennan is off the board, UCLA will have to consider other candidates for its job opening. At this stage in the offseason, it’ll be tough to find a top-tier coach.
As for Arizona, it has to be thrilled about Brennan’s decision.
