Former Arizona head coach Sean Miller could return to the sidelines next season.
According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Xavier is targeting Miller as its next basketball coach. He was with the program from 2001 to 2009.
Xavier isn’t the only program targeting Miller at this time. Rothstein said South Carolina is also interested in the three-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year.
“Xavier is targeting Sean Miller to return as the school’s next head basketball coach,” Rothstein said. “The two sides met on Friday. Miller has also been prioritized by South Carolina to fill its head coaching vacancy.”
Miller had an impressive run with Xavier, leading the program to the Elite Eight and Sweet 16 in back-to-back years. His success with the Musketeers allowed him to make the jump to Arizona.

Arizona fired Miller in April of 2021 after the NCAA launched an investigation into alleged infractions.
Even though Miller would most likely elevate Xavier’s product on the floor, it’s unclear if he’d face any discipline from the NCAA once he gets hired.
