The Arizona Wildcats women’s basketball team will play on and they will do it at home. UA is a No. 2 seed in the WBIT. It will be a rematch for the Wildcats, who will welcome Northern Arizona on Thursday, Mar. 20.
It’s a shot at redemption for Arizona. The Wildcats’ season showed its first signs of trouble with a blowout loss to NAU on Nov. 20 in Flagstaff. Arizona played on the road without starting guard Jada Williams and got just 14 minutes out of Breya Cunningham due to fouls. Despite a 20-point, 8-rebound, 3-assist, 4-steal effort from Paulina Paris, they were never really in a game that ended 92-75 in NAU’s favor.
Arizona had four players in double figures in that game, but the Wildcats couldn’t stop NAU on the other end. The Lumberjacks hit 10 3-point shots and shot almost 47 percent from the floor. Six of NAU’s players got into double figures.
The reunions might not stop there. If the Wildcats can get past the Lumberjacks this time, they could face former Arizona guard Courtney Blakely and Middle Tennessee State in the second round. The Blue Raiders will have to beat Belmont on the road to advance to face Blakely’s former team.
Tickets for the matchup will go on sale to season ticket holders and Wildcat Club members on Monday, Mar. 17 at 9 a.m. MST. They will be available to the general public beginning Tuesday, Mar. 18 at 9 a.m. MST.

The Wildcats are one of three Big 12 teams in the WBIT field. They are joined by Texas Tech, which made a big run in the conference tournament as the No. 14 seed. Colorado will also be in the secondary tournament.
Other notable teams in the field include Stanford, Virginia Tech, UNLV, and Gonzaga, all of which made the Big Dance last season.
