
Editor’s note: With several sports going on, Wildcat Wrap serves as a recap that focuses on the Arizona programs that we do not have the time to cover on a regular basis but are certainly worthy of recognition.
Arizona men’s golf’s Filip Jakubcik has won two individual titles in college, and both have come on the same golf course.
The Wildcats junior won the Western Intercollegiate for the second consecutive year, as she shot a 13-under this week at Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz, Calif. Jakubcik shot rounds of 65, 66 and 66 to finish six strokes ahead of the runner-up.

Jakubcik, a native of the Czech Republic, improved nine strokes on his first place finish last year at the same tournament. He is the fourth player in the Western Intercollegiate’s 78-year history to win back-to-back titles.
Arizona as a team didn’t match his success. The Wildcats finished in tie for 8th place after shooting 16 over par on the final. Arizona finished +13, well behind winner San Diego State at -6.
Arizona will compete at the Big 12 Championships in Tulsa, Okla. beginning April 22.
Women’s tennis
Arizona women’s tennis, the No. 5 seed at the the Big 12 Championship, opened the tournament Thursday with a 4-2 victory over No. 13 seed Utah.
Arizona will face the No. 4 seed Baylor in the quarterfinals on Friday at 11 a.m. MST.
Arizona earned the doubles point and then overcame an upset of No. 64 Josie Usereau on the No. 1 singles court to take down the Utes. Arizona got wins from No. 95 Midori Castillo-Meza, Tanvi Narendran and Zoya Chulak.
The Wildcats next face a Baylor team they lost to 4-0 in Tucson earlier this month.
Women’s golf
The Wildcats women’s golf team won Arizona its first-ever Big 12 championship Thursday, as they held on in a three-team playoff to bring the title back to Tucson.

Arizona’s Nena Wongthanavimok finished tied for second in the individual contest with an even par.
Men’s tennis
No. 2 seed Arizona will open the Big !2 Championship Friday by facing No. 7 seed Texas Tech in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. MST.
The Wildcats enter the tournament ranked No. 12 nationally and could solidify their chances of hosting the first rounds of the NCAA Tournament with a win Friday.
Arizona defeated Texas Tech 4-0 in March.
