February results
After the surge of enthusiasm triggered by the unexpected signing of Corbin Burnes, it’s likely no surprise that things were rather calmer at the start of February. January was a month where moves were notable by their absence. To be honest, it’s hard to see anyone getting too excited by the additions of Grae Kessinger and Rene Pinto to the 40-man roster, except for Mrs. Kessinger and Mrs. Pinto. There were still questions to be answered, in the bullpen and as a right-handed partner in the designated hitter spot, and until that was done, a little angst is perhaps understandable. What effect did the lack of January moves have on the vote at the beginning of February?
- 2% – 1 (not confident in the slightest)
- 0% – 2
- 0% – 3
- 2% – 4
- 2% – 5
- 20% – 6
- 37% – 7
- 28% – 8
- 9% – 9 (very, very, VERY confident)
Oh, those little scamps posting a “1”. #SoFunny. Otherwise though, not a lot of change. For example, the “7” percentage went up from 36.54% to… 36.56%. That’s an increase of two-hundredths of one percent. Here, let me lead you over to the fainting couch. Elsewhere, “8” dropped by six percent, and “6” went up by almost the same amount. That’s about the extent of the moves this month. The net result was a drop of about one-quarter of a point, going down from 7.27 to 7.01. That’s lower than at this point last year (makes sense), but the only other time it was above seven was in 2020, when confidence came in at 7.17 as we headed towards spring training.
Below, you can see the breakdown for the past 12 polls’ results, followed by the line graph showing the trends over this and previous seasons.

March poll
I guess both of the questions mentioned above have been answered, and it does look like Mike Hazen has now closed his shopping list for the season (they team may still try and trade away Jordan Montgomery, but whatevs, I suspect). The question for this month, would be whether you like the answers to the questions. These turned out to be the return of Randal Grichuk, and a new reliever in the shape of Kendal Graveman. The former might be better liked than the latter, who doesn’t appear to be seen as closer material at this point, and didn’t pitch at all last year in the majors. But it’s a bullpen arm, and seems to have some upside. With all seeming more or less to have been said and done, who do you feel?
That would be what the poll is for. As ever, feel free to explain your choice in the comments, especially if it has changed from the previous one.
