Probably the best game so far all-round by Arizona
Record: 2-4. Change on 2024: -1. Five inning result: 3-2-1.
Home runs by Jordan Lawlar and Corbin Carroll during a second inning where the D-backs sent eleven men to the plate, were easily enough offense to give Arizona a win over a split-squad Milwaukee. Lawlar had a two-run bomb, and after the bases had been loaded later in the frame, driving the Brewers’ starter from the game, Carroll greeted his replacement with a first-pitch grand-slam (below). Corbin also had two SB including a beautifully executed double-steal with Pavin Smith in the fourth to score the Diamondbacks’ seventh and final run. All told, Arizona were credited with five SB, as they pushed the pedal. Carroll had two hits, while Lourdes Gurriel, Cristian Pache and Jorge Barrosa each had a hit and a walk.

Corbin Burnes made his second start of spring, and pitched a pair of scoreless innings. He did allow three hits, but they were all singles, and he also struck out three. The big news, however, was the return of Drey Jameson to game action for the first time in more than 19 months. He had a clean third inning, and touched 100 mph during the frame. Great to see him back on the mound, and looking good. John Curtiss also looked good, working two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, and there were zeroes posted by Listher Sosa, Scott McGough, and Christian Montes De Oca The only run allowed to the Brewers came off Bryce Jarvis in the fourth, on two hits and a walk.
Tomorrow sees the team coming over to my side of town, playing at Goodyear against the Cincinnati Reds. It’ll be our first look of spring at Brandon Pfaadt, as he seeks to secure a rotation spot for 2025. First pitch is at 1:05 pm.
