Arizona pulled their spring record back even
Record: 4-4-1. Change on 2024: -1.5. Five inning result: 6-2-1.
Another solid victory on both sides of the ball for the Diamondbacks. They took advantage of a Rockies error in the first inning, as Eugenio Suarez crushed a 444 foot home-run to left with two men aboard (below), for a quick 3-0 lead. A.J. Vukovich, a late sub for Randal Grichuk, went deep in the second, and Garrett Hampson delivered spring tacos after an overturned strike three call became a RBI single. Ildemaro Vargas added a homer in a three-run sixth inning, followed up by RBI doubles from Hampson and Tristin English. Vukovich and Hampson each had a pair of hits, while Suarez added a walk to his bomb. Arizona were especially clutch, going 4-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Zac Gallen got the start, and his velo ticked up in his second outing. He allowed two hits in two scoreless innings, with no walks and three strikeouts. Tommy Henry then went one better, becoming the first D-back to go three frames, blanking Colorado on two hits and no walks with four strikeouts. After a scoreless sixth from Kyle Nelson with two K’s, Scott McGough hit trouble again, allowing three runs on four hits, without being able to get out of the seventh. His spring ERA is now 16.88. Listher Sosa restored order with a scoreless eighth, but Cristian Mountains of Geese gave up a run on three hits in the ninth, before getting a game-ending double-play.
