Major League Baseball named Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte a finalist for the Hank Aaron Award, which honors the best offensive player in American League and National League each season.
Ten finalists were listed for each league, and the winners will be deemed by a committee of MLB legends — such as Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, Albert Pujols, Ken Griffey Jr. and Johnny Bench — along with an online fan vote.
The award winners will be announced on Nov. 14 when the All-MLB Team gets revealed.
Marte finished the season second in the National League with a .932 OPS, only trailing Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (1.036).
Marte also produced the second-highest slugging percentage (.560), sixth-highest on-base percentage (.372), second-highest wRC+ (151), fourth-most home runs (36), 10th-most RBIs (95) and sixth-highest batting average (.292) in the NL during his outstanding 2024 season.
The veteran also led MLB with nine home runs in the ninth inning and finished third with 13 first-inning homers, only behind Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber.
Marte earned his second career All-Star Game appearance this past summer and should be one of three finalists for NL Most Valuable Player along with Ohtani.
