So, how are we feeling?

The Diamondbacks have now completed two weeks of baseball, and it’s safe to say, the results have been a pretty mixed bag. After splitting the opening four games against the Cubs, they won their first ever series in Yankee Stadium. But they then came crashing down to Earth, losing against the Nationals in Washington, a series which also saw MVP candidate Ketel Marte go on the injured list. After losing the opener to the Orioles after they came back to Phoenix, things looked bleak, but the D-backs rebounded to take the next two, the most reason in emphatic style, and go into tomorrow’s off-day with a 7-6 record.
In Marte’s absence the offense has been powered largely by Corbin Carroll, who has continued the surge in form he enjoyed during the second half last year. Pavin Smith is also confounding doubters But for every player who is hitting well, there’s another who is struggling e.g. Lourdes Gurriel and Jake McCarthy. On the mound, the split is between the starting rotation and the bullpen. Almost every starter has struggled – at best, on and off – but the bullpen has been close to lights-out. So who ARE the 2025 Diamondbacks? They may be in fourth place in the division, so do they still have what it takes to get over the Vegas line and reach 87 wins?
