After a perfect inning in his Diamondbacks debut – three up, three down, three strikeouts – Burnes will seek to build on that. He goes against the team who drafted him, and for whom he played from 2018 through 2023, winning the Cy Young in 2021. I also note the presence of Drey Jameson on the list of potential pitchers, which would be great to see. The last time he took the mound in a game was July 6th, 2023, so it has certainly been a while. Fingers crossed it goes well, and he’s able to contribute to the team again this season.
