Notes
Here we are, 11 games into spring, and the best-hitting Diamondback is… Ildemaro Vargas? Did not see that coming. But he has a Cactus League line of .400/.471/.933 for an OPS of 1.404, the highest among D-backs hitters with more than a dozen at-bats. Cut-off point carefully chosen to exclude Corbin Carroll’s 1.821 OPS. I see he’s not in the line-up again today. I’m sure it’s nothing. NOTHING, I tell ya… /breathes rapidly into paper bag. Anyway, those also above a thousand OPS in the early going are Perdomo, Suarez and Naylor. The D-backs collectively come into this game 10th overall for OPS, but (as usual, I think?) the Cactus League is more hitter friendly, with only two of the top ten playing in Florida.
