Who will take home the PYW24 trophy? Let’s find out!
Welcome back!
Last week there were no prompts, there were no recs. No, there was merely a decision. Would kilnborn snag the second ever back-to-back championship in PYWs history? Would Dano rip it from his grasp and secure his first trophy? It was all up to you, dear reader.
And perhaps fittingly, it was decided on tie breakers.
They each got 50% of the vote, and that left it down to me, your PYWs commission to decide. To my knowledge, we have never had a tied finale before, so smashed the “in case of emergancy” glass and came up with this. The deciding factor would be whose top three votes received the most initial rec’s. Meaning…
Dano_in_Tucson is your champion!!
In the end, Dano’s entries had a total of 20 recs, while kilnborn’s fell just short with 17. In a season defined by tiebreakers, we add one more to the annuls of history. Speaking of which, Dano now takes his place in the Pit Your Wits Hall of Fame…

Previous seasons have been lost to the inevitability of time
Congratulations once again Dano!!!!
And thus concludes the ninth official season of Pit Your Wits. I swear there was at least a couple I did before that, since I thought I had already been writing the series when I started dating my wife eleven years ago, but that was multiple publishing platforms ago, so they’re probably lost.
You may have noticed that at the top it says Series Finale, not just Season. After much consideration, I have decided to hang up my Gene Rayburn/Match Game style microphone and turn off the lights in the Pit Your Wit Studios. It has been an incredible run, full of hilarious responses and enough shade that Derek Hall doesn’t even need to fix the AC. But it’s time. Not that we would know, since the clock never did get replaced.
I’m personally not going anywhere. Already have some new thoughts for what to do with the Saturday Lunch timeslot (potential hint). It won’t involve captioning Diamondbacks photos though.
Thank you Jim, for letting me continue this series far past I think most site managers would have let me. It’s kind of a scary thought that I’ll have to actually find something baseball related to continue getting that sweet, sweet Vox Media “money”. To Wailord, Clefo, and soco, for creating the format and eventually handing it off to me, and of course, to every single one of you that ever read, commented, or rec’d an entry. Without you, it would not have made it worth doing this for the better part of a decade. Every time you kill Baxter by pushing him down a Nacho Slide, think of all the fun we had.
Goodnight.
