Only two prompts remain! Who will take the second spot in the final round?
Welcome back!
Last week, I asked you to help Mike Hazen and company improve their process for signing starting pitching, since it has not been great so far. No red comments this week, but still got some great responses! To start off, we have a tie for second place between samath and Steak85 for two recs apiece!
It worked once! It might just work again!
Easy. Just sign Jamie Moyer and Rich Hill. Yeah, Moyer will be 62 next year and hasn’t pitched in 12 years, but he’d probably come cheap, and then he can become the fifth player to play in five decades! Sure, Dick Mountain just got DFA’d by the Red Sox, but that means that he’d be willing to accept a diminished role, unlike Mason Saunders.
I think I might have heard a few years back that Rick Ankiel was interested in pitching again, too. Sign all the lefties who are old and out of baseball; one of them is bound to be better than the latest high-ticket signing, and much, much cheaper.
I personally like this one. I always thought that Jamie Moyer easily had another two to three seasons in him, and why wouldn’t we want someone with the nickname Dick Mountain on our team?
And taking the top spot on the podium, kilnborn!
This feels right. I hate it, but it feels right.
Now lets take a look at the standings!
Kilnborn continues to pull away towards being the second half finalist. His lead over gzimmerm (Remember, Dano’s spot is already confirmed from the first half) is up to eight recs now. As mentioned in the intro, we just have this week’s and next week’s prompts left before that final round, so without further ado, on to the next!
A week or two back, Lovullo made the comment that he hopes that the Diamondbacks will get to the point where they stop hanging banners for Divisions, Wild Cards, etc, and just hang banners for World Series, the like other major, historic franchise do. I say he’s wrong. I say we need more banners. So with that in mind, what accomplishments do you think the Diamondbacks should hang in the rafters? Go!
