Ryne Nelson tossed seven and a third innings of two-run ball. Justin Martinez tossed a scoreless ninth. That set the stage for Adrian Del Castillo. The slugging backstop came to the plate in the ninth having already recorded two hits on the evening. He wanted more though, and he got it, crushing a home run deep into the right field bleachers, making his first career home run a walk-off variety.
Del Castillo Makes First Homer a Walk-Off
Continuing their string of games against playoff teams while also dealing with the loss of Gabriel Moreno, the Diamondbacks went toe-to-toe with the NL leading Phillies on Friday night. The game was a low scoring affair that was punctuated by outstanding performances by Ryne Nelson and the hero, Adrian Del Castillo.
Del Castillo Blast Caps Thrilling Win
Adrian Del Castillo played in his second MLB game last night. The bat-first backstop, covering for the injured Gabriel Moreno, took it in stride, providing three hits on the night, including the all-important walk-off blast to right field in the bottom of the ninth to seal the victory for the Snakes.
Ryne Nelson Tosses Statement Outing Gem
Ryne Nelson took the mound Friday and tossed 7 1⁄3 innings of two-run baseball, leading the Diamondbacks as they continued to put the league on notice that the Snakes are for real and are going to be players in the postseason. Adrian Del Castillo supported the hurler by blasting his first career home run in the bottom of the ninth, a walk-off blast to send the fans home happy.
