D-backs looking at limited over-the-air packages as MLB continues broadcasting games by Alex Weiner [Arizona Sports]
Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall said the team is negotiating with local stations to bring an over-the-air package of games to viewers this season.
“We’re working on those negotiations right now to see if we could take a package of games, almost like a game of the week, and have those on over-the-air partnership,” Hall said on Monday. “We’re speaking with several right now, and we’re excited about that opportunity.

“I think everybody understands the importance of having the Diamondbacks downtown, the economic driver that we have become and that we will continue to be, the employer that we are, the impact that we have as an organization on the community.
“So it truly feels like a partnership. So where we were a year ago, we’re in a completely different place and it’s much more positive and it feels right,” Hall said.

Torey Lovullo Discusses Diamondbacks’ Utility Role, Young Infielders by Alex D’Agostino [SI]
The skipper said that while Geraldo Perdomo is in no danger of losing his starting role, but emphasized names like Jordan Lawlar and Blaze Alexander with regard to the backup competition.
“We have some really good players that we have to make some really tough decisions on. So is [Lawlar] in a bit of a logjam? You could say that. I mean, the obvious thing is, yeah, there’s a bunch of names and there’s a bunch of infielders, but they’re all competing, and we’ll see how it fills in as spring evolves.”
Diamondbacks rotation decision could push two promising young arms out by Michael McDermott [Venom Strikes]
Despite his struggles in 2024, Montgomery is still the best rotation option when considering previous track record. That track record includes a 3.48 ERA in 94 starts the previous three seasons. While the team has aggressively shopped him around in the offseason, a deal has not come to pass. Instead they should prepare for the possibility they’ll be keeping him and his $22.5 million salary for 2025. Montgomery isn’t phased by the noise around him and will be looking forward to a normal spring.

Joc Pederson Taking First Base Reps in Rangers Camp by Anthony Franco [MLB Trade Rumors]
Bochy downplayed the chance of using Pederson in the outfield at Globe Life Field. “I would imagine he could go out there, but I think the focus is more at first base right now, to help out a little bit. I don’t envision needing more depth in the outfield,” the veteran skipper told Grant and other reporters. “He hasn’t been over there very much, so I imagine he’s got a little rust on him. But he’s taken some ground balls already and we’ll make a call later. We think it’s going to work.”

30. Adrian Del Castillo, C, ARI
Del Castillo is likely going to struggle to control the run game, but he should get to enough power to justify plenty of starts at DH. Think a lefty-hitting Ryan Jeffers . . .
Del Castillo still has some issues on defense. Most significantly, his 2.05-ish second pop times are at the bottom of what tends to be acceptable for a regular catcher (he hasn’t played other positions as a pro). His excellent accuracy makes up for this to some extent, but he has allowed a career 80% stolen base success rate in the minors, with a 93% success rate on 29 attempts during his call-up to Phoenix. Other aspects of Del Castillo’s defense are also below average, but not so bad that he needs to change positions. Speedy opposing offenses will turn games against him into a track meet, but with Gabriel Moreno entrenched as the primary guy, los Serpientes get to pick their spots with the way Del Castillo is deployed.
